Chainsaw Safety Training

Details: Northern Star Council is offering Chainsaw Safety Training on several dates, different camp locations. Chainsaw training is required if you are planning to operate a chainsaw on Northern Star Council camp properties. Events such as Conclaves and Alumni Work Weekends benefit from trained volunteers. Cutting is always done at the discretion of the Camp Ranger and/or council staff. Combined BB Gun & Archery Rangemaster Training

Details: Through some very dedicated volunteers the council is offering opportunities for BB Gun and/or Archery Rangemaster trainings. These trainings will allow unit leaders to run their own ranges at our council camps. Find an adult from your Pack/Troop/Crew to attend one of these trainings so you are ready to offer BB Gun and Archery for your unit youth. Certification is for 2 years. It is the mission within the Boy Scouts of America to maintain a culture of Youth Protection awareness and safety at the national, regional, area, council, district, and unit levels.  Youth Protection training is a prerequisite for BSA membership and must be retaken every two years.  This course will present a rich set of content and provide an opportunity for question and answers - something not available via the on-line training version.

Leave No Trace Trainer Course - Fall 2018

University of Scouting

The University of Scouting is a fun-filled, hands-on opportunity to network with other Scouters, and is truly a learning adventure. This one-day training event is designed for all Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Venturing and Sea Scout Leaders, and Boy Scout, Venturing and Sea Scout youth leaders regardless of experience. Choose from over 100 courses with an emphasis on programs, skills, and resources to deliver high quality opportunities to Scouting youth. New Leader and Position Specific training will also be offered. Make sure to tell your Scouts about the Youth Leadership College. This college provides leadership training courses for all Boy Scout, Venturing and Sea Scout aged youth in a variety of areas. From Running Great PLC's to Troop and Crew Trek Planning your youth leaders are bound to find classes that fit their interests. In addition, a vendor midway will be available offering exciting program resources, materials, and ideas.
