Leave No Trace Training (LNT) at Stearns

When:   May 5-7, 2017

Where:   Stearns Scout Camp. Arrive Saturday by 7:30 am  for check in at Crowther Lodge. Graduation 10:30am Sunday. Leave after cleanup

Cost: $35. includes food, materials and LNT Trainer recognition

What to Bring:  tent, sleeping bag, pad, small day pack for hiking, mess kit and utensils, water bottle, bug spray, rain gear and usual personal gear, etc and props for teaching

Successful participation results in 2-year Red Cross certifications. $124 for all three CPR, AED, and WRFA.

Youth participants must bring proof that age is over 14 years.

BALOO/OWLS

BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) and OWL (Outdoor Skills for Webelos Leaders) training is a one day training event that introduces cub scout leaders to the skills needed to plan and conduct pack outdoors activities. Everyone will learn and enjoy this event together. Successful completion of this training will result in an increased level of confidence and a willingness to plan age-appropriate outdoor activities.

Time: Gathering 7:30am Training 8:00am-5:00pm (bring your own lunch)

The training will include planning, meal preparation, campfire programs, first aid, nature hikes, games and cook-ing. Scattered throughout the day are plenty of the four S's; songs, stunts, stories and showmanship.
BALOO / OWL training is for everyone who works with the Cub Scouts. That includes Den leaders, Cubmaster, and Committee members.
BALOO AND OWL training learning Objectives:
1. Understand the focus of the Cub Scout level of the BSA outdoor program.
2. Acquire the skills and confidence necessary to plan and carry out successful Cub Scout-level outdoor activi-ties.
3. Increase their knowledge of the resource available from the BSA for carrying out this activity.
With proper planning and your BALOO/ OWL training leader, your pack will be set for a fun and exciting adven-ture of the great outdoors.

Trainer's EDGE

Natural Rock - Training (Volunteers & Camp Staff)

Northern Star Council will be offering Natural Rock Face Climbing Training for Camp Staff in June 2017.

After you have learned the basics of climbing, belaying and tower setup, rescues why not go the next step Natural Rock climbing.

June 9-11 Natural Rock (Taylors Falls) stay at Fred C. Andersen Scout Camp, this includes food, lodging, transportation to Taylors Falls and back, training materials and staff. Plan to arrive by 5:30 p.m. on the evening of this session

  • Meals are provided in the building
  • Lodging will be in the Bunk beds are provided you need to bring your own sleeping bag and toiletries.

Leave No Trace Master Educator at Tomahawk

Attend the regional Leave No Trace Master Educator front country course August 24-29, 2017.  Learn, Apply and Teach the 7 Principles of Leave No Trace for planning high adventures and weekend camping.  Includes activities and hikes with first two days focused on weekend camping and 3 days back country focus.  Located at Tomahawk Scout Reservation north of Rice Lake,WI.

COST: $250. 

$100 deposit with registration.
